About the role:

● Database Administration: Regular monitoring and maintenance of databases and SQL Server Instances to ensure optimal performance. This entails deployment of new instances as well as maintaining existing one.

● System Administration and Platform Engineering: This includes building and supporting multiple customer environments, assisting with designing cloud solutions, maintaining system architecture, and ensuring network security procedures and policies are followed

● Support and Troubleshooting: Providing support for Cloud Services, with focus on database-related issues and performing troubleshooting to resolve any problems that arise.

● Disaster Recovery Planning: You would be involved in defining disaster recovery strategies, detailing actions and processes required to maintain operations during disruptions, and ensuring recovery service level agreements are met

Key Areas of Responsibility will include:

  • Establishing the needs of users and monitoring and controlling user access and security.
  • Monitoring performance, tune and optimize Databases for optimal performance
  • Continuous refinement of DBMS physical design to meet system storage requirements
  • installing and testing new versions of the DBMS
  • Developing, managing and testing back-up and recovery plans
  • Capacity planning, ensuring storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd Level Helpdesk Support to internal and end users.
  • Resolve support issues within SLA obligations and escalate within a timely manner
  • Commissioning and installing new applications and customizing existing applications in order to make them fit for purpose.
  • Ensure that implementation projects / programs are completed in accordance with established timeframes and budgets.
  • Uphold Privacy Act 1998 (AU), Privacy Act 1993 (NZ) and ISO 27001 requirements.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Microsoft Azure Administrator AZ104
  • Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server and related database technologies.
  • Proven experience in deploying and maintaining High Availability SQL Instances in a 24×7 Environment.
  • Experience with Azure Cloud Services, including Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Storage, Backup, Recovery Services
  • Knowledge of database administration, backup, recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Ability to write and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures.
  • Experience with data security and encryption methods.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (MSSQL, PowerShell) and database automation tools.
  • Minimum 3 years in a similar role
